Conference of the Project:
“New Roots for the Women Employment in Cyprus
The Larnaca District Development Agency, together with its 10
partners of the Development Association ‘New Roots for Women’
organized a Press Conference for the project “New Roots for
the Women Employment in Cyprus” on the 23d of January 2007,
at the Palm Beach Hotel in Voroklini.
The
Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus,
Mr Sofoklis Sofocleous and the District Officer of Larnaca Mr
Giannakis Mallourides were present and saluted the event. The
conference attended also the Bishop of Kition mr. Chrysostomos,
the Mayors and Presidents of the Communities of the Larnaca
District, a representative of the E.S.F., a representative of
the District Office of Work, a representative of the Department
of Agriculture, representatives of the Development Association
‘New Roots for Women’, representatives of the transnational
cooperation ‘RESTART’ and a large number of people.
The
objective of the event was to inform the public about the project,
in general and, more specifically, a brief analysis of its tasks.
The project aims to lay down ways to confront the increased
unemployment of women and youth and more generally to make a
stand against sex discrimination in labour market and the strengthening
of the women employment and business through several actions.
It
is worth to be mentioned that the project “New Roots for the
Women Employment in Cyprus” is held in the frames of the Community
Initiative ‘EQUAL’ and is co-funded by the European Social Fund
(50%) and the Republic of Cyprus (50%).
